Jefferson’s Grand Selection Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Cask Finish Bourbon is crafted from 20+ year old matured Jefferson’s Reserve whiskey finished in 40 Suduiraut Bordeaux wine barrels with toasted staves made of French oak casks. These are then stored in a proprietary ‘hot box’ environment to blend in the succulent tones of the wine with the masterfully crafted whiskey. Composed of an undisclosed mash bill and finished to a barrel strength of 90 proof. About the brand

Launched in 1997 by Kentucky native Trey Zoeller and his father, bourbon historian Chet, Jefferson’s Bourbon is a brand of small batch bourbon and rye previously known for using exclusive distillations from other distilleries. While Jefferson’s continues to use expertly-sourced whiskies from independent companies in up to 75% of their product lines, the brand recently partnered with Kentucky Artisan Distillery - now distilling 25% of their whiskey at KAD’s facility in Crestwood TN. In 2019, Jefferson’s Bourbon was purchased by Castle Brands, aka Pernod Ricard, and has expanded to offer various iterations of whiskey, including special edition and collector releases. One of the most renowned of these selections is their highly-acclaimed Jefferson’s Ocean; a line of carefully crafted whiskey aged at sea in barrels stored on container ships. The ships sail around the world for a minimum of 6 months, weathering storms and drastic changes in temperature which in turn lend a distinct palate and finish to each Ocean's release.

This is in the port-finish/other-finish division of my completed whiskey section. Snappy recap of the visually impaired trials up until now: Joseph Magnus Respectable Oak Wild Turkey Recovery Bunny Opening division. WT Restoration won division. This division: Isaac Bowman versus Angels Jealousy IB won. This next round is Amador Twofold Barrel versus Jeffersons Terrific Determination (Sauternes). After this is Jeffersons old rum container versus Lager Barrel Whiskey. Did I notice this is for science? Nose on this is black out which is astonishing to me. Low astringency and on the off chance that you truly jam your nose down in there you can get a few traces of jam and conceivably pureed tomatoes. On the off chance that the whiff hits me as a sweet fragrance its the jam. In the event that its appetizing its the marinara. Cant get both together. The body deliverys on the grape jam flavor. The pleasantness from the wine is very apparent. I cant get much other than the grape jam. Polish carts away more grape jam with a touch of cinnamon. Dont know where the marinara thing comes in however even now Im jumping on the button in spite of the flavor being nonexistent in the beverage. This is somewhat less intriguing than Id trusted given its retail cost. I appreciate it its simply essential. That grape flavor is extreme. Unquestionably would not accepting once more yet it wont shield me from getting amped up for different items in the Jeffersons setup. For me this beats Amador however thats less an announcement of significance for Jeffersons and increasingly an arraignment of Amador.

Taste isnt awful however has an extremely odd nose. Sufficiently terrible to nearly destroy it altogether. Unquestionably not worth the cost.
